Koch gears up for GATS

TransAm expands wellness program
TransAm Trucking, based in Olathe, KS, has expanded its health and wellness program for employees by installing a blood pressure machine at the company’s terminal. TransAm has taken a proactive approach this year and is providing their employees with free health education resources and programs to help employees achieve and maintain safe blood pressure levels and overall health.

Greatwide hosts wellness fairs
From July through October, Greatwide Dedicated Transport will host a series of wellness fairs and cookouts at terminals throughout its operating area. 89 Con-Way drivers reach championships
Con-way Inc. will send 89 drivers to the 72nd annual American Trucking Associations National Truck Driving Championships in Pittsburgh Aug. 18-22. At the nationals, judges evaluate drivers on their skills and knowledge of safe driving through written examinations, equipment safety inspection testing and formal driving tests.

HTAA Update

The Healthy Trucking Association of America (HTAA) has been hard at work bringing the following new programs to its membership:
• Reducing obesity in the commercial driver sector with LifeClinic and Globafit.
•     Smoking cessation program sponsored by Habitrol.
•     Working with large truck stop chains to explore the possibility of providing exercise facilities, and providing more blood pressure stations.
•     Teaming with Aflac to provide new disability insurance benefits.
     In addition, HTAA officials participated in Greatwide Transportation’s “Health Day” in Opelika, AL, attended the Great West Truck Show in Las Vegas in June and will attend the Great American Truck Show in Dallas in August.
