Ruan Driver Receives Million Mile Safety Award

DES MOINES, Iowa (September 2, 2009) — Ruan Transport Corporation is honoring driver Bruce Banwell, who is receiving the Ruan Million Mile Safety Award. This remarkable achievement recognizes his one million miles of accident-free driving for Ruan.

Tim Laffoon, Banwell’s manager, selected him to receive this prestigious award. “I worked with Bruce as a dispatcher before becoming his manager. He has always been willing to go the extra mile and help with whatever our company or our customers need. When he retired in 2003, he went part-time and now drives because he enjoys it. Bruce is the type of driver that keeps Ruan on the road,” Laffoon said of Banwell, who has dedicated 17 years of outstanding service driving for Ruan.

Banwell will be presented his award at the annual safety recognition banquet in November, where he will receive a personal plaque of recognition.
